Bilingual children’s story in English and Spanish with thought questions to guide the young reader. This little story by Gonçalo Tavares touches on a theme very close to the lives of all of us. Although we are individuals, we are social beings. Most of us live in communities with whom we share our concerns and achievements. And Mr. Valéry is no exception. He also needs friends, he just doesn’t know how to get them and our hearts go out to him. Rachel Caiano’s illustrations also reflect Mr. Valéry’s hope of friendship, and the fact that this version is bilingual, in Spanish and English, makes it possible for it to reach many more people.
